DIY Invitation

Last week I handed off the DIY invitations to Allison and she loved them! I find the color combination so refreshing and so summery! LOVE it!

If you are looking to save some money, I do offer DIY options for brides. Please feel free to inquire about this option!

A busy month of March

What a crazy month March has been! I was in Mexico for a week at the beginning for my sister's wedding, which was a really nice break and nice to go to 30 degree weather, however it meant that I fell behind on orders. My first week back from vacation involved meeting after meeting, drafts and making invitations in all of my spare time. But the vacation was worth it and I'm back doing what I love at home...working with paper.

The first invitation was based on a pink & black damask theme and included 3 swarovski crystals on it. I have to say I love hot pink!

The next invitation is one that I'm still putting together currently for my client Jen. We modified the square tri-fold invitation to be rectangular instead so we can fit in RSVP postcards which fit within Canada Post's standards. We did the inserts double sided on metallic silver paper while the main invitation was done on metallic white. I think they look great and I hope she loves them!

I can't wait for my next order...it's a DIY project for Allison. I'm putting together the pockets, printing and cutting all the pieces to the right size and Allison will assemble the rest of the invitation. This is definitely an option I offer if you are looking to save some money and don't mind assembly but you don't know how to do the design or pockets. I have to say these are my new favorite invitations...I just LOVE how the purple and green go together...I know Allison with LOVE them as much as I do! I will post pictures of them next entry after I surprise her with the order =)

New invitations!

It has been quite the busy last 2 weeks trying to get ahead in orders so that I'm not swamped when I get back from Mexico (which is in less than a week!!). Just wanted to post a couple new invitations that I have finished in the last bit that I managed to finish in record time for some rush orders! Both projects from start to finish only took about 2-2.5 weeks which is quite the accomplishment and I was quite surprised I managed it! Things have slowed down just enough for me to go on vacation for a week before I get right back at it again with a few orders to finish before the end of March. The first invitation is chinese themed with red and gold metallic papers and the second invitation is the rectangular version of a popular square invitation in my gallery with a swarovski crystal and double sided inserts with customized maps!

Recent projects

Wow it has been super busy the last couple weeks! Just wanted to post some pictures of some recent orders I have been working on.

A couple months ago, I donated some postcards for my friend Gill for her silent auction to raise money for her to run a marathon for the Arthritis Society. As a result, the winner of the silent auction wanted to use them for some save the date cards for her upcoming wedding and I had some fun creating these for her! Naomi wanted to go with a green theme and I got to try out a new font!

The next invite is for Samantha & Dejan and we took an existing design and flipped the pocket so that it was on the left side instead. I love how the purple and silver turned out (maybe because those were my wedding colors!).

The last few images were taken of my desk as I was in the process of putting together invitations for Lisa & Jason, I thought it was really neat how the monograms looked randomly scattered and the piles and piles of pockets and paper (my desk is never without some stack of invites nowadays!) And finally of course, the final product...I love how this invitation turn out, the blue really stands out against the metallic brown, and of course the swarovski crystals were my favorite part!

Looks like I have another crazy week ahead of me, so hopefully the next blog entry won't be too far behind!

Customized maps!

One of my clients recently asked me to reproduce a custom map for their map insert to their ceremony location. I had always wanted to make my own custom maps since I find that google maps aren't always the easiest to shrink and fit onto an insert to show enough information about how to reach a destination, so I was quite excited to reproduce this map and also create a new one for directions to get to the bride's mother's house for the day after festivities. The maps turned out looking great! And I've decided to offer custom maps as an option for my clients. Here is how the map turned out:
